Back in 1945, Mr. R.D. Beck of Anniston, Alabama, a gas station owner, decided to offer his customers something extra: a car wash.   He and his son Lamar began washing cars by hand on the side of the gas station and wouldn’t you know, people started lining up for that service.  Soon, the car wash was bringing in more than the gas station and before long it was official – they were in the Car Wash Business!

Four years later, R.D. felt it was time to grow, so he put down $2,000 and bought a state-of-the-art mobile car washing machine.   Similar to the in-bay automatics of today, the powerless unit was pushed back and forth over the car to apply soap and rinse.   He and his son scrubbed the cars by hand and were able to wash about 100 cars per day – not bad for a couple of guys from Alabama.

By 1955, father and son decided to give their arms a rest and built the state’s second full-serve conveyor car wash.  From there, the business expanded into Georgia and grew along with the fledgling car wash industry.   They took the name Goo Goo in 1972 when they purchased the car wash of that name in Columbus, Georgia.

Through the 80’s we expanded into the construction and operation of self-serve car washes and in-bay automatics.  Also during this time, the Goo Goo name was added to a custom blended, full line of car wash soap and chemicals.  To this we added a full-service maintenance and distribution network to easily cover all of the needs of any type of car wash.

In late 2001, we developed the Express Wash concept with Free Vacuums.  The first of these washes was opened in Montgomery Alabama in September 2002 and we’ve been growing ever since.  This unique, industry changing concept appeals to the customer with a fast, inexpensive and high quality wash with unlimited free vacuuming.  Sit back, relax and leaving the washing to us.

Today, Goo Goo Car Wash is still a family run business, owned and operated by Lamar Beck, son Roger Beck and Darren Bradham.  We specialize in the sales and service of the latest car wash systems and innovations as well as soap and chemicals.
